Lights Off, Stars On

Every room in Wanda's house was glowing — even the empty ones. "Lights use energy," Mum said. "Only use what we need."

So Wanda went on a Light Patrol. Click! The bathroom. Click! The hallway. Click! The playroom where nobody was playing.

When the last light went off, Wanda looked out the window and gasped. Thousands of stars twinkled above the garden.

"When we save energy," whispered Mum, "we can see the sky better too."

Wanda counted stars until she fell asleep — the happiest Light Patrol captain in the world.
